The Old Guys Had It

Thousands of years ago these guys were building big ocean-going boats (and even bigger sheds to house them). Without maps, compasses or timepieces, the polynesians navigated the world's largest ocean. In 1997, I became aware of their craft - an asymmetric hull with a windward outrigger called a proa. Since then, it is my favorite design. Recent designers have applied modern technology to this multihull configuration. The results are amazing. More on this, and my design thoughts of a life on the water aboard a superior sailing craft, in future posts. For more about proas and other outriggers, www.proafile.com.

And so it goes.

Maybe our peepholes will go out tonight – maybe not. As I open my first blog post, I can't help but wonder what a small part of the Big Is we all are. This insignificant little entry will have absolutely no impact on anything. It never will. And so it goes for each of our lives. Most of us will have little or no impact on that around us.

But the potential is at its maximum. Nothing here, but something there. I guess we'll see. So many ideas, drawings, opinions to share. Yes, this is my first time sharing so.

So sit back, enjoy the ride, and welcome to my blog.
